ZR Knights is with us
Night has turned to day
Today on System Analysis I’m interrogating ZeroKnights, The genius who at one point was 4% of Rising star content by weight, not volume. Zero is a fast writer who was decided against all sense to release three fictions on the same day. Let’s hope that works.
Zero is a member of my publishing mastermind group, an exploratory invite only group that takes indie authors and gives them the tools to create a small press pub. I’ll be opening this program up again for applicants in August.
How'd you come up with this system?
Made it up on the spot. Worried more about the story.
So the system serves the story and not the other way around? Correct.
Was it based off a game you played and loved or a book?
Nope. I enjoy reading Litrpgs. Hate writing the traditional versions. Feels like it limits the imaginary majestic scenes. Boxes in imagery.
Is it safe to say that you don’t like boxing? Or just MMA?
Boxing is alright. Love me some Dagestani fighters tho. Especially the ones that can box. Hyped to see how long they can keep the streaks going against all odds.
Is the math a constant obstacle for you?
Probably. My only and closest thing to litrpg I get wrong all the time…
What are the main skills and why did you choose those? (three stories)
Op character that doesnt know they are op. Stuck in a tutorial sim that is meant to keep up humble and to get better for a few days or months. Stuck for roughly 100,000 years.
Xianxia (isekai) Romantasy. Main skill is going to be some form of gravity manipulation via Qi deviation. Makes himself a ten ton berserk sword. Fill it with Qi and it is lightweight to him. Smack Demonic cultivators with wife
Evil Villain (Probably the closest to traditional Litrpg game mechanics). Skill based system. That are developed via ranks that need skill points. A literal dragon heart is worth 32 points. Fledgling rank in all skills is 7 points. Hard to advance
Did you make the system first or work through the plot first?
Plot. I make up the majority of the system as I go along with the story. Think up of cool scenes I want to write and then work my way to them. Keeping the system vague-ish so they can’t question it. And if they do I make up stuff that works…
Is there anything you wish you had done differently?
Not really. Lucky enough that what I like to write is what does well on RR. Not sure how that will look on Amazon though.
What Advice do you have for newer authors?
One piece. Simplicity. Be very concise and clear in the first draft of chapters. Then add style. Go chapter by chapter.
What's a "level up" in your system?
Advancing to the next skill level in concert with other skills that makes a visible change in the way you fight and how easy it is. Advancing via cultivation and or system Mark system based on Domain and Conquerer Haki. Noble lineages passed down. Massive gaps between the ranks with many subranks in between. No known person (Except rumors) about anyone above the third rank.
Can you explain your crazy launch plan for those of us watching from home?
Ideas that had been running rampant in my mind. 1 rewrite 2 ideas I can churn out 5k daily plus if I split books. Helps advance my writing speed too. Good practice for the future And I need distractions from current works. Mind doesn’t like it when I focus on one thing only.
What is your writing routine?
Lean towards discovery writing. I run three different types of outlines during the initial phase
1 - Traditional 3 act ideas (Including a tentative ending)
2 - 6 point scene to get to that I want to write
3 - Chapter split and progress points to hit The three help guide my writing, but the majority doesnt stay the same. Ex. Sterkhander. Changed the ‘outline’ as Ive written it multiple times already. Massive changes to endings etc…
What are you currently working on?
Op Ancient Being: Being mistaken for an Ancient Predecessor usually resulted in heavenly benefits. Not for James Anderson. Xianxia Romantasy (I can’t figure out the name 😢): Guiyang was murdered by his wife. Now they murder Demonic Cultivators together. Evil Count of Bellham: Heroes fail and the Ice Age Apocalypse is nigh. The world turned to a villain in its darkest moments. Said Villain couldn't give a fuck.
